I'm just as saddened by the turn of events that are leading to the exodus of artists. It's horrific that art no matter how bad or how distastful is being disallowed for a more glamourous Sheezyart.
Some people are blaming the admin, some people are blaming the server, some people are just plainly leaving. I personally, blame the admin and I'm leaving. Sheezy is nothing without the freedom of being able to post whatever the hell I want. Yea, customization. What the fuck ever, that's a perk, and it's not going to make me stay. Whoever the hell believes that being able to customize your site overrules not being able to post anything that you've put effort into needs to come to grips with the fact you can work just as hard to create your own 'customized' webpage elsewhere.
Sheezy does not have the networking power that dA does. Plainly, Sheezy will not last because they somehow think that their site has features that are better than dA's years of experience? Innovation is the key to online competition. Sheezy was innovative because the service allowed people to post adult stuff. Then they started catering to all these thirteen year old kids. No offense to any thirteen year old kids around here but you neither have the resources to 'donate' to this site, nor submit the kind of calibur art that I'd highly respect.
It's not a clean break either... because they refuse to delete entire accounts. What the hell are they afraid of? Their stats going down? Will channelcat and spencer not be able to claim that they have x number of people on the site? How can they think that everyone's so loyal to this site when they've just fucked the mass majority of people on this site? Why not reset everything and see who comes back?
What? They didn't fuck anyone? It was the server? That's bullshit, if someone told me that I'd have to alienate my users, I'd try to compromise with them and/or fight to find a better server. Granted, I don't know everything that goes on behind the curtains, but honestly, I somehow don't believe that every server in the US doesn't allow adult oriented art. That seems highly unlikely as Porn still stands as the Internet's Cashcow. Maybe they should stop trying to run the servers out of Utah. :3
But this is terrible, because it's going to scatter everyone. More often than not, people are going to go back to Deviantart, because at least there's more users on that site and they can market their name a little more. Possible find smaller servers out there, and or create their own personal sites. Sadly places that allow porn is very limited to people who don't do furry art.
Furtopia.org
Provides 50MB to start and if you need more just ask. Signing up involves an email and a little patience. You have to make your own website, but if you just upload your art you can provide a little description.
VCL
VCL, allows for commenting on other people's art and such. However they want lower quality images. Size restrictions and jpeg compression is a maximum of 70%. So if you want to butcher your art, go and try to apply. You need 3 sample art in order to get an okay to join.
FurAffinity/FurPawz
I actually joined this one a little while ago. It's still in the works, but we'll see where time takes it. So far, no limitations as to Adult art. Be sure to adapt your icon to 60x60, 50x50 isn't accepted for some reason. I'm giving it a try, feel free to stop by http://www.furpawz.net/art/user.php?name=lykanthrope.
FurNation
I personally haven't given FurNation a try. So if anyone has some information, that'd be quite handy. I believe it's free, however you have to make your own webpage. However, they're working on building AnthroNation which has thumbnailed galleries.
I know that VCL, FurNation and Furtopia all require you to be an anthro artist. FurAffinity has slots of Anime and other stuff. Here are a few other sites.
Renderotica
Mostly rendered stuff like Poser and DAZ|Studio. However, if it's erotic, I believe it's okay. I have an account there... ugh, it's a bit difficult navigating, but they do have a comment and rating system for the galleries.
Renderosity
Has a gallery system with commenting and favoriting. I haven't seen too much of it, but I know they allow a lot of different styles of art.
So good luck to you wherever you may roam. And be sure to keep in contact.
Frankly, I joined Sheezy because of the freedom--hell I didn't have porn to upload at all. Save for one image... and it was kind of a stretch. Then I had fun drawing porn. And it's not like any of it has been gratuitous.
Being able to post G-rated stuff whilst appreciating adult material; saying "thank you" for it all, and enjoying some mutual encouragement without having to log on to 100 different sites.
I simply don't understand using the hosting company as a scapegoat for getting rid of the adult material.
So what do VCL and Furnation run on? (Far less the myriad others...).
